Something about me to know: there are always multiple projects I’m juggling. I wish there could be one project at a time, but that’s just not how my brain works. It craves the chaos of multiple storylines, characters, and universes.
That might be why it takes so long for me to finish a project. As soon as I start on one project, a new idea pops into my head, and I have to flesh it out, and then another, and another. The well of creativity is always overflowing! It’s a blessing and a curse. I don’t have enough hours in the day to work on everything I want to. Everything ends up happening in stages, so I can keep track of my projects in a queue of priorities.
As the first quarter of 2026 comes to a close, I feel like I haven’t accomplished much because I’m juggling multiple projects at various stages of completion. I thought it might be nice to take some time to jot down everything currently in the works and what you can expect from me coming in 2026 and 2027.
My debut novel!
This is the most exciting thing on the list! Happily Never Afterlife will be dropping in May 2026! I have not selected my publication date yet, as I am still working on the book’s interior layout to make everything look perfect. I am beyond thrilled to have this romcom out into the world! For two years, this book has been my baby, and I can’t believe it’s nearly ready to be published!
This book follows our protagonist, Mae Carmine, an 86-year-old woman who dies and enters the Afterlife, only to discover she is youthful again and assigned a soulmate she’s never met. I will have many more blogs about Happily Never Afterlife coming up in April, so I won’t give too much away now! But you can expect to meet Mae in May. She’s feisty and has a sharp tongue. I hope you will love her as much as I do!
Two short stories in the works.
You can expect at least one new short story on my website later this month or in early April. I’ve finished drafting it, and it’s verging on 11,000 words! Definitely not exactly a “short” story by any means! This story follows a young girl named Astraea, who is forced to participate in a talent show produced by the infamous Master Magnifico. The two share a past, and Astraea must make a difficult choice that will impact the future of the realm. This has been one of the hardest stories for me to write, and once it is published, I think you’ll see why. It’s a story I simply feel compelled to tell.
The second short story I’ve been working on is nowhere near ready. My goal is to have it completed by the end of April. It follows one of Heaven’s doormen as he grapples with the responsibility of judging souls bound for Heaven and Hell. This piece is in the early stages, but it’s shaping up to be a poignant look at morality from a unique paranormal perspective.
Lots of novel outlines are ready for drafting.
While polishing Happily Never Afterlife has been at the forefront of my mind, I’ve been jotting down my notes and outlining multiple projects that are ready to be drafted! As my plate unloads and I can shift my focus to these other projects, I will have to determine which one to start first. As it stands, we have four novels outlined:
- The sequel to Of Oaths And Ashes follows the events of the first book. I need to develop the sequel in case it impacts the first book with the way the story unfolds. This will help me figure out the third draft of OOAA when I am ready to get back into developing this trilogy. I love the cast of characters and I am excited to meet the new characters I’ve been brainstorming. This story features angels, demons, and the battle for which realm will come out on top.
- A Christmas romcom with a twist. I’m keeping this one under wraps, but I am making it my goal to have this novel ready for publishing in November 2027. I know that’s a long way out, but my goal is to complete the first few rounds of drafts by the end of this year. Don’t worry, there will be more details to come once it’s written! This one will have spice that is central to the plot so if you’re my family, this book might not be the one for y’all! Sorry, Mom!
- A vampire romance with a bite! This one will be dark as a young vampire bride is tired of immortality with an asshole of a husband – the head vampire of the coven. She enlists the help of a renowned vampire hunter, only to meet his son instead, who is trying to find his missing father. I’m really excited about the ideas I’ve been coming up with for this concept, and I think this will be a fun novel to write in the autumn months when there’s a chill in the air. It sets the mood for what I want to accomplish with this one.
- A fantasy adventure! Inspired by my love of Dungeons & Dragons and the goofballs I play with, I have a story in mind that embodies the diversity of characters and personalities I’ve seen at my tables. D&D is collaborative storytelling at its heart, and through the characters I’ve seen my friends play, I got the idea to write an adventure novel that reads like one of our games. There will be heroics and many, many blunders. I’m developing the cast of characters and enlisting some of my D&D friends to help design them in a way that makes the most sense to the story. I’m really looking forward to adding my friends to my creative process this early on!
I have other ideas, more novels that are partially outlined, including a multibook series unrelated to the trilogy I’m developing. They need more research, and I need to figure out how the puzzle pieces fit together, so they aren’t ready to be added to the queue of current projects. I’m sure that will change by the time I write my next project update.
It’s difficult to find time to work on all these projects, but I am excited and energized by each idea. That’s always a good sign! I am looking forward to putting Happily Never Afterlife to rest soon and enjoying the fruits of my labor. Now comes the difficult choice: which of these projects do I want to dive into first?!
